stade 🏟 moderne et sublime
Opened in 2013, the Allianz Riviera is the home of OGC Nice. Designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte for Euro 2016, it was conceived as a multi-purpose venue built around several features aimed at cutting its environmental footprint: a photovoltaic roof, a geothermal system and rainwater harvesting.
The guided tour takes you from the Aiglons' dressing room to the edge of the pitch, taking in the VIP areas and the press room along the way. It lasts between 1 hr 15 and 1 hr 30. The meeting point is in front of the Musée National du Sport, and the tour can also be combined with a visit to the museum.
The Allianz Riviera is a stadium designed with the environment firmly in mind. With much of its structure built in timber and the many photovoltaic panels fitted to it, the ground is expected to produce three times more energy than it uses. An out of the ordinary project, then, and one perfectly in tune with the times.
Lobby of the Musée National du Sport. Arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts.
