About

Built in 1929 for the Ibero-American Exposition in Seville under the name Stadium de la Exposición, the ground has been home to Real Betis since 1939. The club bought it in 1961 and named it Benito Villamarín that same year. Redevelopments in 1982, 2000 and 2017 gradually shaped the stadium as it stands today.

While work continues at the Benito Villamarín, Real Betis runs its guided tours at the Estadio La Cartuja, the team's current home. The route takes in the first-team dressing room, the tunnel, the pitchside area, the bench and an exhibition space devoted to the club's history.

Did you know?

Built almost a century ago now, the Benito Villamarín is one of the grounds in Spain that has changed the most over the decades. Five successive names, one round of renovations after another and, since the summer of 2025, a complete rebuild that has sent Real Betis to play at La Cartuja in the meantime: the arena has never stopped reinventing itself to remain one of the finest in Europe as the years go by. And the 1935 Spanish champions would certainly not argue with that.
