About

In Lisbon, the current Estádio José Alvalade opened its doors on 6 August 2003. It is the seventh Sporting ground to bear the name of the club's founder. Designed by Tomás Taveira, this 50,095-seat urban stadium hosted five matches at Euro 2004 as well as the 2005 UEFA Cup final.

Allow around an hour and a half in total to explore the Sporting Museum at your own pace and then join the guided stadium tour. The route takes in the Emerald Lounge, the stands, the pitch and the away dressing room. The meeting point is Gate 12. On match or event days, the itinerary may be altered.

Did you know?

The Estádio José Alvalade XXI long looked like a curse for Sporting Portugal: for almost two decades, the Lisbon club never celebrated a single league title there. The spell was broken in 2021, and the Leões have more than made up for it since, crowned champions in 2021, 2024 and 2025 to take their tally to 21 Portuguese titles. Incredible.
