About
Did you know?
Stamford Bridge originally held far more spectators than it does today. Designed to take up to 100,000 people, most of them standing, it recorded its biggest crowd in October 1935, when close to 83,000 fans turned up for a league match against neighbours Arsenal. As the need to modernise the ground and make it more comfortable grew, the stadium only took on its current shape in 2001, after being rebuilt one stand at a time. Could an expansion be next?
